Terms & Licensing

Who sells the plugins
All purchases and downloads run through Gumroad, Inc., which acts as the merchant of record: Gumroad is the seller in the transaction, handles payment processing, invoicing and applicable taxes, and its terms of sale and refund policy apply to the checkout. If something you bought is broken, write to hello@pointlessaudio.studio first — most problems are fixed faster than a refund.
The software license
Every plugin ships with an End User License Agreement in the download package. The EULA in your package is the binding text; what follows is the standard Pointless Audio license in summary, so you know what you are getting before you download:
- Licensed, not sold. You get a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the plugin on the machines you own or control.
- Any use of the audio is yours. Commercial or not, everything you record, produce or release with these tools belongs to you.
- One backup copy is fine.
- Not allowed: reverse engineering, redistributing, reselling, sublicensing, or stripping proprietary notices.
- No warranty. The software is provided as-is; liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
- Updates are provided at our discretion — in practice, free within the current major version.
- Governing law: Italy.
Third-party components: the plugins are built with the JUCE framework and the Steinberg VST3 SDK, each under its own license.
Trademarks
Pointless Audio plugins are independent recreations inspired by classic hardware. They are neither affiliated with, nor sponsored or endorsed by, any of the original manufacturers.
- PortaTwin is not affiliated with or endorsed by TEAC Corporation or the Tascam brand.
- BucketMan is not affiliated with or endorsed by Electro-Harmonix / New Sensor Corporation.
- AlphaRail is not affiliated with or endorsed by ARP Instruments or Teledyne Semiconductor.
- Ferrotank is an independent project inspired by a classic 1960s tube-driven spring reverb unit; the model designation “6G15” is used descriptively only.
- Compatto is an independent project inspired by Italian transistor combo organs of the 1960s.
All hardware names, brand names and model designations are trademarks of their respective owners, used only to describe the devices that inspired each plugin.
